Media: Crimean Bridge Blown Up With Missile Fuel

Russia has revealed the details of the attack in 2022.

An explosive expertise in Russia said that Ukraine attacked the Crimean bridge in October 2022, using solid missile fuel containing potassium or sodium perchlorates, as well as fine metals. This was reported by the Russian publication of Kommersant.

It is reported that an improvised explosive device hidden in reels of polyethylene film was used for the explosion. It detonated from a plastic explosion at a certain point along the route. The power of the device was equivalent to 10 tonnes of TNT.

Russia says that the organiser of the so-called "terrorist attack" is the SSU head, Vasyl Malyuk.

The material says that the explosive device was hidden with a polyethylene film with a thickness of 100 micrometres. A dense layer of film acted as a shell of the explosive device.

It is noted that in early August 2022, the film on 22 pallets, weighing 22.7 tonnes, was shipped from Odesa to the Bulgarian town of Ruse. From there it went to the Georgian town of Poti and then to Yerevan. While the film was in the Yerevan Transalian terminal, the cargo was customs cleared, after replacing some of the accompanying documents.

According to the expertise, on October 4, the explosives were transported on a DAF truck across the border between Georgia and Russia through the Verkhny Lars border crossing point. Two days later it was delivered to the wholesale base in Armavir in Krasnodar region. Already there, the bomb was loaded into an International ProStar vehicle with a trailer. The car was driven by Mahir Yusubov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. He was to deliver the film to the occupied Simferopol.

It is reported that such complicated movements weakened the attention of Russian security forces to the cargo. The explosion at the Crimean Bridge occurred on October 8, 2022. A hexogen-based explosive was used for detonation. It is assumed that it could have been C-4 or PE-8.

The expert examination found that the detonator, which was also concealed by the film, was triggered by a GPS signal. The route point was set in advance.

The material says that the explosion resulted in the collapse of two spans of the Crimean bridge, which connected the 235th and 236th supports. In addition, the explosion damaged 17 tank cars, which were travelling as part of a goods train.
