Iron Curtain introduced at Belarus’ border âàæíàÿ íîâîñòü? 42

9:03, — society

Since May 15 control over crossing the customs border of Belarus by goods for personal use is reinforced.

“Vecherniy Brest” newspaper has been informed about that by Brest customs office. Since now all goods imported into the country by physical persons for personal use are to be controlled strictly.

Once in two months it will be possible to bring in no more than 3 items of one name of goods, but up to 10 names of goods. Once is a month a person can bring in 3 items of one good, but no more than 3 names of goods. But if you will go abroad oftener than one time a week, you will be able to bring in only one item and only one good.

And it is allowed to bring in one item of no more than 3 kinds of household appliances and long use goods like outdoor clothes, shoes and so on.

These novelties do not concern articles of food. The customs office does not comment on these rules so far. Meanwhile, citizens have many questions in this connection. For instance, why the law allows bringing in 35 kilograms of goods for a sum of maximum Euro 1,000, and customs office introduces control.

The new rules of importation are not applied to some categories of citizens including heads of states and governments, members of parliamentary, governmental and other official delegations of foreign states.
