Ivan Sheha, member of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF), sent appeals to Slonim district and Hrodna region and General Prosecutor’s office requiring bring local KGB officers to responsibility.
The case is that head of the Slonim inter-district KGB Alyaksandr Mazylkou addressed the chief of psychoneurological department of the district hospital with a suggestion to examine mental state of Ivan Sheha and his family as “it is necessary.” Ivan Sheha wants to know if these actions are approved by procuracy and meet the law.
By the way, as Radio Racyja has learnt, medical workers must inform the KGB about mental state of every public activist of the district and every member of oppositional parties, acting in the district. An editor-in-chief of “Hazeta Slonimskaya,” the only independent newspaper of Hrodna region, has recently become a victim of such actions. Moreover, the 50-year old editor-in-chief may be drafted to military forces at the suggestion of the local KGB.
