Meteoric career of prosecutor

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has agreed for appointing Alyaksei Stuk a deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus. And just a year ago A. Stuk occupied the position of the prosecutor of Leninski district of Minsk.
Appointing Stuk to this position, Lukashenka has noted that he “expects increase in efficiency of procuratorial institutions’ workers. Much depends on establishing effective interaction of prosecutors with representatives of other law-enforcing agencies,” the Belarusian leader underlined.
His meteoric career brilliantly shows that A. Stuk cooperates with “representatives of other law-enforcing agencies” successfully.
Before July 2007 Alyaksei Stuk was in the position of prosecutor of Leninski district of Minsk. He was promoted to the position of the deputy prosecutor of Minsk soon after he refused to bring up a criminal action against citizens who attacked the presidential candidate Alyaksandr Kazulin in 2006.
As we have informed, on February 17, 2006 a provocation was staged against A. Kazulin and his assistants by secret service men in the national Press-center. As a result, the presidential candidate was beaten up as well. The incident took place at the territory of Leninski district falling within Stuk’s powers. However, a criminal case wasn’t initiated for beating up the presidential candidate A. Kazulin.
The latest achievement of prosecutor A. Stuk (in his position of Minsk deputy prosecutor) is that he signed the sanction for the search in the office of “Radio Racyja”, “The European Radio for Belarus”, BelSat TV company, Hrodna offices of the Belarusian People’s Front and “Batskaushchyna” (“Fatherland”), and in apartments of independent journalists in Brest, Homel, Mahilyou and other cities.
It looks like a new promotion has been received by A. Stuk for the “successful operation” against journalists.
