A decision on returning to 11-year secondary education has been taken in Belarus. So, the experiment of the Ministry of Education on 12-year education is over.
Anatol Rubinau, first deputy head of the presidential administration, said it to journalists after a meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka, where issues on secondary education were discussed, Interfax reports.
“There will be no shock, parents may be quiet, their children will have good education,” A. Rubinau stressed.
According to A. Rubinau, “all changes will be directed at development of school, at better education.” “We need to prepare not only a specialist, but also a citizen, who will have the necessary knowledge and will be ready to enter upon life,” A. Rubinau noted.
He said “the best thing the school had would be remained.” “The head of state said there will be no violent changes, he ordered to improve the quality of education not at the cost expanding the term of studying or overwork of a pupil, but at the cost of improvement of quality of educational process, “ the first deputy head of the presidential administration noted.
It should be reminded that Uladzimir Zdanovich, a deputy of the “house of representatives,” head of the commission on education, culture and scientific-technical progress, harshly criticised the draft decree.
The “deputy” was liberal of epithets. He said an attempt to impose a common for all schools educational programme and replacement of lessons with elective courses was a “real diversion.” “It is obvious that returning to 11-year secondary education means a beginning of a new reform, leading to the Stone Age,” Uladzimir Zdanovich told in an interview to BelaPAN.
