Hugo Chávez: “I’m not going to deal with any sorts of distortion”

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez refused to comment on spreading by media information about a 30-billion dollar contract on cooperation with Russia, signed in the course of the visit to Moscow.
“I am not going to deal with any sorts of distortion, spread of different agencies,” H. Chávez said at Minsk National Airport answering a question of journalists about signing a 30-billion dollar contract on military cooperation with Russia.
“What a crazy sum! You’d better ask me how much we invest in the country development!” H. Chávez noted.
In this connection he told that agreements with a Russian company on development of rail network in Venezuela as well as an agreement on cooperation in aviation sphere had been reached in Moscow.
“I have already spoken on this issue (about arms supplies),” the Venezuelan leader stressed.
As Interfax reports, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez intends to discuss prospects of cooperation with Belarus in the course of the visit and counts that his “personal” relations with Lukashenka will promote twofold growth of turnover between the countries.
“We will discuss oil extraction and cooperation in three other sectors to increase our turnover twofold,” H. Chávez told to journalists at Minsk National Airport.
He emphasised that Venezuelan-Belarusian cooperation is moving forward quickly. Venezuelan President noted creating of joint enterprises was discussed with the Belarusian side. “well have already been drilled (for extraction of oil in Venezuela by Belarus –IF), we cooperate in the sector of oil search, there a contract on equipment and car manufacturing in Venezuela,” H. Chávez said. He also told about 40 Venezuelan specialists were to visit Belarus soon in the frames of this project.
“We are at the final stage of the project of tractors and lorries assembly,” Venezuelan President went on. He added that Belarus and Venezuela also cooperated in the sector of provision of gas supply to Venezuelan cities.
“We are meting with our friend – president of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka during afternoon. We wil discuss an agreement on different directions of our cooperation,” H. Chávez said. He also stressed “We make a good progress”.
Venezuelan President also noted “the case is not only in personal relations, necessary for establishing friendship between the peoples, which is a basis for political relations for development of economic and social ties.”
