Belarusian Christian Democracy denied registration again

5

On December 9 the Justice Ministry denied state registration to the Belarusian Christian Democracy party for the second time this year.

According to the official report of the Justice Ministry, “during the check of credibility of the documents offered for the state registration of the party, numerous irregularities were found when holding foundation meetings of the party”.

The Justice Ministry refers to a selective survey of persons who were on the list of the BCD founders: “many of the citizens were not present at the conventions for nomination of the delegates to the Foundation meeting of the BCD party and are not founders of this political party”.

We remind that before the decision not to register the BCD was issued, the leadership of the BCD informed about the facts of crackdown on the party founders, who had to withdraw their signatures for fear of losing job, possibility to study in a university and so on.

The first attempt to register the BCD party failed in April this year. Earlier the BCD tried to get an official status by registering a public association, but unsuccessfully.

Today, on December 10, the leadership of the BCD plans to publish an expanded comment and inform about their future actions on party building.
