Seven participants of the action in memory of abducted minister of internal affairs Yury Zakharanka were detained in Minsk.
At 3 p.m., activists of the United Civil Party held an action near Mahilouski supermarket on occasion of the 11th anniversary of disappearance of former interior minister Yury Zakharanka, Radio Svaboda reports.
The location of the detained is unknown. Anantol Lyabedzka doesn’t answer his cell phone, BelaPAN reports.
We remind that on May 7, 1999, former interior minister of Belarus and UCP member Yury Zakharanka was abducted not far from his house. His fate remains unknown today.
The international community thinks high-ranking Belarusian officials, in particular, minister of internal affaires Uladzimir Navumau, former head of the president’s administration Viktar Sheiman, former minister of internal affaires Yury Sivakou, and former commander of special task squad Dzmitry Paulichenka are involved in kidnapping of Yury Zakharanka and other leaders of the Belarusian opposition (vice speaker of the Supreme Council Viktar Hanchar, businessman and public figure Anatol Krasouski, journalsit Zmitser Zavadski).
