Sannikov in Barysau: “People are ready to change the regime”

40

The leader of “European Belarus” Andrei Sannikov has visited Barysau on a working visit.

Andrei Sannikov has met with democratic activists, public leaders, human rights activists and journalists of the city.

“Barysau dwellers have always been noted for their active citizenship. One could recall that during all political campaigns, rallies demanding freedom and democracy in Belarus were held in Belarus, in support of our national flag, with demands to release political prisoners.

At this meeting we were not only discussing previous rallies, but spoke about the presidential campaign, about the Belarus in which we would like to live. People are interested first of all in the things which are immediately concerning their life and development of the country in general, its relations with the external world. There were many specific questions about the situation in the economy, social sphere and health protection. By the way, as I was told, the situation with medical institutions in Barysau is simply awful. An organization for protection of patients of hospitals is being created in the city.

Speaking about the upcoming presidential elections, it could be noted once again that the current regime does not suit the people in any way. They are ready to do everything to change this government,” the politician said in an interview to charter97.org.

The leader of the local youth association “Volat” Zmitser Barodka attracted attention to a great interest of Barysau democrats to the meeting with the presidential candidate.

“Now a number of trips of Andrei Sannikov to the regions is taking place. Activists of many organizations contact us, they want to listen to the platform of the leader of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, ask questions to him, to find out how to act before and after the presidential elections. Not only “European Belarus” activists attended the meeting in Barysau, but members of other organizations. There is a feedback, a great interest exists,” Zmitser Barodka noted.
