Searches go on in Belarus: BPF Youth’s leader seized computer

9

The youth leader was brought ridiculous charges with cracking the website “Transport and logistics”.

As charter97.org learnt from the BPF Youth’s leader Andrei Krechka, his parents’ apartment was searched today at 7 am when he was out. A system unit was seized. The search was carried out by officers of the Leninski district militia department of Minsk. The militiamen said Andrei Krechka was a suspect in a criminal case of hacking the website “Transport and logistics”, Til.by. The militiamen didn’t leave even a copy of the report for the activist’s mother.

The youth leader says the accusation is absurd, he doesn’t even know how to crack a website. He believes reasons for the search of his apartment were only political.

“It is evidently connected with the upcoming presidential elections, the authorities want to scare the oppositionists, that’s why my computer was seized. Maybe they want to find something and then arrest. By the way, the search was conducted by the same officers of the Leninski district militia department, who had seized computers from charter97.org office. This is a complete outrage. The ground for the seizure was absurd. By the way, a window was broken in my car and a navigation system was stolen some days ago. On June 1, my car was searched by the militia and all literature was seized only for the fact I was handing out balloons with Belsat TV logo in the town of Barysau. So, search of the apartment is a logic continuation,” Krechka noted.

The youth leader is to appear in the Leninski militia department of Minsk today for questioning, but he is not in the capital now.
