Myasnikovich’s mysterious visit to Israel

A visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich to Israel was to end yesterday.

None of the country’s official source has reported about details of PM’s trip to Israel. “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper managed to find out some nuances of the visit.

The paper tells details of Mikhail Myasnikovich’s flight to Israel, which was called a working visit a day after his departure.

Personnel of the Minsk airport said how the Belarusian PM flew:

“He travelled as a private person, without body guards, who are supposed to accompany the state’s second most important official,” the personnel said. “Moreover, he and his wife flew economy class on a plane of El Al Israel Airlines. It is said that when the captain heard the Belarusian Prime Minister was on board, he offered Myasnikovich and his wife seats in business class at the expense of the company. But Myasnikovich refused politely.”

One can only guess whether Myasnikovich showed ministers and other officials how to save amid crisis, or it was a private, not working, visit. Israeli IzRus said yesterday referring to the Embassy of Belarus in Tel Aviv that Mikhail Myasnikovich met with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman.

Belarusian media do not report about the meetings. Even the official website of the Belarusian government keeps silence.
