Meat prices to grow 30%

Maximum retail prices of pork and beef carcasses will increase in Belarus on October 4.

This step will be made on the ground of Ministry of Economy's regulation No. 78  of October 1, 2012, a BelTA correspondent learned from the Ministry's public relations department.

The document raises ceiling retail prices of pork carcasses to the level of the current retail prices of  meat-and-bone semi-finished cuts of pork and prices of beef carcasses by 30%.

The regulation was adopted in view of losses of sector enterprises and selling meat carcasses to include it into Minsk's stabilization fund to provide uninterrupted supplies to internal network of foodservice facilities (industrial enterprises, health an educational institutions) on a proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Minsk city executive committee, the Ministry of Economy explains.

“Meat-processing organizations will be given an opportunity to increase retail prices of their products within the ceiling limits,” the Ministry of Economy noted.
