Dashkevich's whereabouts still unknown

Staff of prisons in Zhodzina and Hrodna does not say if the political prisoner arrived.

“They don't give this kind of information on the phone. You need either to send a letter or to visit the prison. I don't know anything about a transfer from Mozyr,” an officer of prison No. 8 in Zhodzina says.

The staff of the Hrodna prison, to which Zmitser Dashkevich was possibly sent, says this information can be received in writing, Radio Svaboda reports.

Anastasia Palazhanka, the fiancee of the political prisoner, will try to get information about Zmitser Dashkevich's whereabouts on November 2. She hopes to receive letters the political prisoner sent her from the Mozyr penal colony before the transfer. She knows for sure such letters were sent.

The court ordered to send Young Front leader Zmitser Dashkevich to a closed prison for the rest of his jail sentence, because he was given the status of a “persistent violator of prison rules”.

Zmitser Dashkevich and Young Front activist Eduard Lobau were detained a day before the presidential elections.

They have been serving sentence since December 18, 2010, on accusations of “hooliganism”, though the real reason is their political activity.

Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich was tried again on August 28 for failure to obey orders of the prison staff. His jail term was extended by one year.
