Protests against infill development go on every day in Mahilou photos 18

15:54, — society

Three grassroots rallies have been held in the city for the last three days.

Each of them attracted about 100 people, Euroradio reports.

People are angry at the plans to construct blocks of flats on the place of a birch forest in Yubileyny district. No one held public hearings and got approvals of local residents.

People collect signatures. About 400 signatures have already been collected and a part of them has been sent to the local authorities.

Officials and city council members avoid meeting residents. A representative of the contractor failed to convince people it was necessary to construct blocks of flats there. He couldn't answer all questions.

Residents are going to continue struggling against infill development in the district.
