Activist receives 15 days in custody for valerian for Lenin

He was accused of disorderly conduct.

Raman Vasilyeu was detained on November 8 near his home in Minsk. The activist was detained by police for pouring valerian tincture onto the statue of Lenin in Independence Square.

Young Front member Uladzimir Yaromenak was early sentenced to 15 days in custody for the same action.

Young Front activists organized an egg attack on the statue of Lenin on an anniversary of the 1917 revolution last year. Belarus is the only post-Soviet country that continues to officially celebrate the day of the Bolshevik coup in Russia.
