Russia closes borders for Belarusian opposition members?

Exit from Russia is closed for the people restricted to leave Belarus.

This statement was made by General Vladimir Pronichev, the head of the Border Service of the Russian Federal Security Service, at a meeting of the board of the Border Committee of Belarus-Russia Union State.

According to the general, the variants when a citizen of Belarus without the right to leave the country flee to Russia and to third states via the Russian borders are excluded. “The border services of our states fulfill all tasks set by intergovernmental and interdepartamental Belarusian-Russian agreements,” Vladimir Pronichev noted. He said the border services would detain on request any person in Belarus or in Russia.

We remind dozens of Belarusian oppositions members were banned from leaving Belarus for the calls on the EU to impose sanctions on the Belarusian dictatorship. Many of them were able to go abroad through Russia which has an open border with Belarus.
