General contract for the construction of the Belarusian NPP will be signed on June 18-19

General contract for the construction of the Belarusian NPP will be signed on June 18-19

This was stated by the head of the combined company ASE NIAEP, Valeri Limarenko, at the IV International Forum "Atomexpo 2012" on June 4.

"It requires certain formalization in the government both from the Belarusian and our side, as it is a big deal," he said.

"The general contract included all that is required to complete the commissioning. The next stage is the final one of the project. It will then involve work on the construction readiness for installation of the main equipment. Concrete casting will start in a year. In 2017, we plan to complete almost all the construction and assembly operations, while in 2018 - to provide physical and energy startup along with commissioning of the object," he said, BelTA informs.

Valeri Limarenko says that ASE-NIAEP intends to participate in the construction of the third and fourth units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant after completion of the first two. "I believe that everything that is possible to build will be done by our company. The construction of two more units is now projected," he stressed.

Earlier it was mentioned that the general contract on the NPP construction in Astravets of Hrodna voblast of Belarus would be signed on June 17. This issue was discussed at the meeting of the second operational headquarters for the construction of the nuclear power plant under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.
