Representatives of civil initiative against lawlessness in courts and prosecutor's office appealed to Lukashenka with a proposal to dismiss the Chairman of the Supreme Court.
33 people ask to nominate former Attorney General and the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Grigory Vasilevich for the post, writes "Narodnaya Volya".
The authors point out that they do not belong to any political camp, do not fight for power, but only want to restore their violated rights: "But we know on our own experience that it's not possible in our country because of opposition of the officials, including high ranks, among which is Valiantsin Sukala. He heads the country's judicial system since 1997, which means his involvement in its achievements and shortcomings. Unfortunately, we and our relatives have experienced and continue to experience all the negative aspects of the domestic court... We believe that the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus Valiantsin Sukala shows arrogance, he turned the court into a closed structure, and uses the independence of the judiciary system to cover the miscarriages of justice", - says the statement.
Based on the above, the activists ask Aliaxandar Lukashenka "to release Valiantsin Sukala from his duties and to appoint a Doctor of Law, Professor Grigory Vasilevich, who once held high positions in our state, the Сhairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus". The document's authors believe that knowledge, experience and open-minded personality of Grigory Vasilevich correspond to this important and responsible post.
"Their address citizens intended to give to the staff of Lukashenka's administration. However, the head of the reception staff Igor Lamanosau categorically refused to accept an appeal from the citizens and did not even talk to us, - said a lawyer Tamara Sergey. - Therefore, we were forced to send the document addressed to Lukashenka via mail. In my opinion, the behavior of the administration employee suggests that, contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, power in the country belongs not to the people, but to officials, who use the power in their own interests and remember about the people only in their speeches and before the elections".
Recall that Valiantin Sukala is a true long-liver of high offices. On august 16 he turns 70 years old.
