German newspaper continues a series of scandalous publications about cooperation between German and Belarusian security forces.
According to the newspaper, the German Police not only helped Belarusian regime in training of those who dispersed a peaceful rally in Minsk, but also armed the security forces, "Radio Svaboda".
In conversation with Bild representatives of German Foreign Ministry confirmed that during the period from 2009 to 2010 German funding of equipping of Belarusian security forces with computer and video equipment was about 41,200 euros; in the period between 2008 and 2011, at least a hundred of Belarusian policemen was provided with body armor, shields, batons, etc.
As Bild reported, responsible representatives of the Federal Police and the Federal Office for criminal cases confirmed in a conversation with the newspaper that the training of Belarusian security forces had been authorized by the Government of Chancellor Angela Merkel.
German Foreign Ministry was informed about this collaboration in April 2008 and approved it. This is evidenced by e-mail correspondence between the Federal Foreign Ministry and the German Embassy in Belarus, which is quoted by Bild.
In particular, a responsible official of the Foreign Ministry said to the ambassador in Minsk that "there are no serious objections" against this, but, nevertheless, it is recommended to not announce this information, too much, so it does not become a part of the media.
As the website charter97.org previously reported, in July 2012 was fired chief of German police Matthias Seeger. Among other things, he is charged with contacts with Belarusian government.
On August 24 of this year, government spokesman Steffen Seibert said that long-term cooperation with Belarus had then "permissible grounds." According to him, in their actions German police, "as far as possible", always tends to relieve tension and to use non-violent methods.
