KGB: Hackers send out messages about devaluation

Subscribers of MTS and Velcom mobile network operators received messages about the Belarusian ruble devaluation.

According to preliminary information, the messages were sent out by foreign n hackers through a server in India, the KGB information and PR centre reports.

“The investigation revealed that messages were sent out through a server in India,” the KGB informs. “The fact that criminals belong to a foreign state can be proved by their incompetence, because the messages point the sums in the national currency that are not used in Belarus (18,116 Belarusian rubles).”

The KGB department of information technologies security carries out an inquiry trying to identify the persons who have relation to the provocation, the KGB says.

Earlier, SMS messages from an alleged source from the National Bank about a sharp decrease of the Belarusian ruble from January 8 made a stir on social networking websites.
