Police ask to inform on moonshiners

Soviet methods of fighting moonshining return.

As a Minsk Novosti correspondent learnt from Andrei Ambrazhei, the head of the order and prevention department of the police department of the Minsk city executive committee, whistle blowers can use a special hotline, which will be available 24 hours a day. Any information, including anonymous one, will be checked.

Two big illegal distilleries have been closed down in the Minsk region in January. The police found a distillery with 1,500 litres of wash and 230 litres of spirits ready for sell. The distillery, which was located in a shed, was well equipped, the moonshine still kit ran on gas.

Home distillation of alcohol carries administrative punishment.
