The first president of Belarus will have no monument

Lukashenka banned the installation of a monument to this man.

He participated in the opening ceremony of the construction of a residential complex for the scientific and creative elite "Magister" today.

Alyaksandr lukashenka has said that he objects to placing monuments to politicians. He doesn't want his own monument either:

"I strongly object to placing a monument to the country's first president," he says. However, there have been many offers and even attempts, allegedly, Lukashenka has noted.  

He considers that the monuments to politicians and state figures should be "in people's brains".
