Belarus could have shipped S-300 to Syria

Syrian army may have long range surface-to-air missile systems S-300 in its inventory.

Together with the air defense complexes and systems S-200, Buk-M1-2, Buk-M2E, Pantsir-S1, Neva, S-125M Pechora the surface-to-air missile systems will allow Damascus to effectively ward off USA’s attack from air and sea, an informed military source in Moscow claimed.

“Syrian air defense is capable of decently responding to USA and its anti-Syrian coalition allies’ strikes in the case a war breaks out. Damascus today possesses around a thousand units of surface-to-air missile systems and over five thousand antiaircraft guns of different types”, - Interfax learnt on Friday from one of the former air defense chiefs of Russian Armed Forces.

At the same time he did not rule out that Syria’s air defense may also be armed with surface-to-air missile systems S-300.

“If Russia had not once supplied Syrians with this system, which was claimed at the very high level, Belarus or China could have done it with no publicity in 2010-2011”, - the agency’s interlocutor stated.
