Prayers for priest Lazar in Vatican

Praying for arrested priest Uladzislau Lazar took place in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican on September 20.

About 50 people from Belarus took part in the praying service conducted by priest Yuri Barok. Believers prayed for solution of the problem and God's blessing of Belarus.

The prayer for the arrested priest was a response to the appeal of Metropolitan of Minsk and Mahilou, Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz to pray for priest Uladzislau, Nasha Niva newspaper reports with a link to the Christian Movement.

Priest Uladzislau Lazar has been in the KGB jail for more than three months. He was charged with giving money and material values to a person suspected of spying for a foreign state. The priest may face up to 15 years in prison.
