Lukashenka doesn't want to deceive voters in March

The dictator is against holding the presidential election next March.

Lukashenka demands to improve the implementation of decisions, adding that he would give “serious attention to the issue”, BelaPAN news agency reports. “I don't hide that we need to optimise and improve discipline. I have a draft decree on my table that concerns you most of all. You will get more rights, but you will face huge responsibility,” Lukashenka said to newly appointed officials.

“Every decision of your boss, whether it is a decision of the executive committee or his personal decision, must be fulfilled. We need implementation discipline. The decision must be implemented. If it is not fulfilled, other instruments are applied, including criminal prosecution,” he said.

“We will continue like that regardless of the election. We don't need to be guided by the election. We need to remember that it is an exam for us and we are going to take it,” the dictator said. “But we don't need to adjust ourselves to the election, as many people, beginning from certain opposition members, propose. They say let's hold the election in March instead of November next year when my term expires. They say the situation is suitable, and the president's approval rating is almost 90%. It will be deception of our voters and the population. We should not do it and allow others to criticise us when it is not necessary.”

“We will straightly say to people what we have achieved. And we will do what we haven't achieved yet. People may vote in favour or against if they want. Let them elect someone else. Everything must be honest. But we should not adjust ourselves to any elections. Life runs its course,” Lukashenka said. “We need to base our policy on honesty and justice. We don't need more. The notions of honesty and justice have acquired economic features besides psychological ones.”
