Defence Ministry about number of Russian military bases in Belarus: No comments

The Ministry of Defence of Belarus does not comment on the information about the second Russian military base in our country.

The ministry's press service declined to say the exact number of Russian bases in Belarus to a charter97.org journalist.

“No comments now. We'll tell you all details after the decision is taken,” colonel Uladzimir Makarau, a deputy minister of defence responsible for ideological work in the Armed Forces, said.

Reports have appeared today that Russia will open its second military base in Babruisk. Experts think the place was not chosen accidentally. The military base in Babrusk is larger than one in Baranavichy. It can be used for the extended deployment of air forces. In the Soviet times, heavy bombers were stationed there.
