Case against Minsk department of Investigation Committee closed in Vilnius

Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office has stopped a pretrial investigation against Dzmitry Kanaplianik, the head of the Minsk department of the Investigation Committee.

Charter97.org learnt it from the Investigation Committee's press service.

“Based on the results of the investigation carried out by the Lithuanian law-enforcement bodies in connection with cartridges in the car of the Minsk department of the Investigation Committee, Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office took a decision to close the pretrial investigation against him and his wife,” the press release of the IC reads.

Kanaplianik returned to Belarus on October 20.

“The law-enforcement bodies of Lithuania took a decision two weeks ago to change the pretrial restrictions for his wife, who immediately left for Belarus,” the press release reads.

The head of the Minsk department of the Investigation Committee has resumed his work, the IC reports.

The Committee earlier didn't rule out that Kanaplianik had been framed and the cartridges had been planted in his car during his trip to Lithuania.
