Shoigu flies to Minsk

Defense Minister of Russia Sergei Shoigu is to arrive to Minsk on October 29.

He is to take part in the joint board of the military departments of Belarus and Russia. Charter97.org website has been informed about that by the Defence Ministry.

“On October 29, 2014 Russia’s Defence Minister, army general Sergey Shoigu is to arrive to our country on a working visit to take part in another session of the joint board of Defence ministries of Belarus and Russia,” the message reads. “The heads of the military departments of Belarus and Russia are to take part in the sessions of the joint board of the defence ministries of Belarus and Russia, at which the issues concerning provision of military security of the union state are to be considered.”

In particular, the agenda is to include issues of air defence’s combat alert duty and joint defence of the external border of the “union state” in the air space, creation of the Single regional system of the air defence of Belarus and Russia, carrying out collective training in 2015, interaction in the sphere of radioelectronic warfare, as well as preparation to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War.

During this visit, Belarusian Defence Minister Lieutenant General Yury Zhadobin is to have a face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart.

The programme of the visit also includes a meeting of the chiefs of the General Staffs of the two states, Major General Oleg Belokonev and Army General Valery Gerasimov.
