Rosselkhoznadzor finds ASF in products of Babruisk meat-processing factory

The fourth case of the detection of the African swine fever virus genome in Belarusian meat has been recorded.

The Babruisk meat-processing factory has joined the blacklist that already includes factories of Orsha, Minsk and Mahilou, Interfax reports.

Russian Rosselkhoznadzor's deputy head Yevgeny Nepoklonov informed his Belarusian counterpart Vasili Pivavar about it. He noted the detection of the ASF virus genome was a serious violation of the veterinary and sanitary regulations of the Customs Union and Russia posing a threat of the further ASF spread.

Rosselkhoznadzor asks the Belarusian veterinary service to launch an investigation to figure out reasons of the presence of the ASF genome in products of the Babruisk and Mahilou meat-processing factories and take measures to prevent deliveries of products that don't comply with the veterinary and sanitary regulations to Russia.

Taking into account the severity of the situation of the last few days, Rosselkhoznadzor's head Sergei Dankvert talked on the phone to Belarusian minister of agriculture Leanid Zayats, and Rosselkhoznadzor's deputy head Yevgeny Nepoklonov talked to top officials of the Belarusian veterinary service.

Rosselkhoznadzor ordered to test samples of pork products of meat-processing factories of the Minsk, Vitebsk, Hrodna, Homel and Mahilou regions to prevent the transmission of the ASF virus into Russia. At least one sample from five lots of products must be obtained for testing. Details of the sample collection report must be given on the back side of supporting documents.
