Public activists to discuss lustration in Belarus

The round table discussion on discussing principles and prospects of lustration in Belarus is to take place on October 31.

Charter97.org has been informed about that by the organisers of the event.

They offer for discussion the following topics:

- Adoption of the Law on vetting of corrupt officials in Ukraine, its special features and problems in its implementation. Experience of Ukraine and the situation in Belarus.

- Amendment of the text of the “Materials for the concept of lustration in Belarus” in the following aspects: condemnation of totalitarianism and authoritarianism in Belarus, criteria of lustration, the period which should be considered as coming under lustration; positions to which vetting of corrupt officials should be applied.

- International principles of lustration and their implementation in “The Concept of lustration in Belarus”.

- The organisers of the meeting would like to see concrete texts for “The Concept of lustration in Belarus” as a result of the meeting’s work.

The round table discussion will be held in the headquarters of the Trade union of Radio and Electronic industry on October 31. It starts at 11 a.m.
