Belarus lost 160 million dollars on its export of goods to Russia

Belarus lost 160 million dollars on its export of goods to Russia

Part of the revenue is being lost due to the devaluation of the Russian ruble.

This was announced today by Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Leonid Zaiyats, writes Interfax.

"That amount of food which is supplied to the Russian Federation is growing in tangible numbers, however, in terms of dollar revenue it falls, due to the devaluation of the Russian ruble," said the official.

According to the Minister, due to the devaluation of the Russian ruble Belarus sustained a loss of 160 million dollars.

In addition, Leonid Zaiyats stressed that "we do not rush to increase the prices of food exports to the Russian Federation". He explained that all prices are determined by supply and demand. The Minister gave an example when the recent prices for exported beef and poultry have slightly decreased. In addition the prices have decreased for dry dairy products and butter.

"Only for cheese the prices increased, but this growth was marginal, namely only five pre cent," he said.

Reflecting on the issue of the usage of imported raw materials in obtaining the final goods, which are exported to the Russian Federation, the Minister noted that the price for imported raw materials does not affect the final cost of the final product.

"Belarus maintains its obligations for level of prices," - concluded Mr. Zaiyats.
