Investigation Committee initiated criminal case over MiG-29 crash

The Investigation Committee of Belarus has initiated a criminal case over the crash of the military aircraft in Brest region.

Charter97.org website has been informed about that by the Investigation Committee of Belarus.

The case was opened on charges relating Article 465 Part 1 (violation of the rules of flights and preparation to them) of the Criminal Code.

As it has been informed, on November 11 at about 1.30 p.m. during a scheduled flight. An emergency situation happened to Mig-21 of the 61st Air Force and Air Defence fighter air base. The pilot chose to eject. The falling aircraft did not damage people or buildings. The pilot has been found and is in good health. A commission has been set up to investigate reasons behind the crash.

An investigation team was dispatched to the scene of the accident. First Deputy Chairman of the Investigation Committee Alyaksei Volkau also went to the site of the accident to coordinate the work. The investigation is carried out in tight cooperation with the Belarusian Defence Ministry.
