Founder of Art-Siadziba project detained

Stanislau Babaitsau is charged with “disorderly conduct”.

Police officers came to the activist and his friend near the Kastrychnitskaya metro station to check their IDs. Stanislau Babaitsau asked the officers to show their police cards. The policemen regarded it as “resistance” and accused the activist of “disorderly conduct”. The men were taken to the Tsentralny district police department. Babaitsau, the founder of the Art-Siadziba project, refused to sign a police report. His friend signed papers and got released. According to him, the policemen behaved rudely, Radio Svaboda reports.

The Tsentralny district police department confirms that Babaitsau was charged with “disorderly conduct”. The trial will take place on Monday. He may face up to 15 days in custody.
