Kyiv wants Minsk to explain ban on Ukrainian flags

The Ukrainian MFA asks to explain a ban on flags at an Okean Elzy concert in Minsk.

The appropriate note was sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Spokesman for the Ukrainian MFA Yevhen Perebyinis wrote it on Twitter.

“Belarusian MFA, is this normal? Are Ukrainian flags banned in Belarus?” he wrote in Belarusian and posted a link to a YouTube video showing a riot police officer confiscating a Ukrainian flag from girls at the concert.

The police searched fans and confiscated Ukrainian flags before the concert at Minsk Arena on November 21.
