Rosselkhoznadzor demands Belarus to stop transit of goods via Russia

Belarus was asked to call off transit of food products through Russia.

Charter97.org was informed about that by the press-service of Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor.

“As it has been informed before, Rosselkhoznadzor detected a channel of large-scale smuggling of meat of unknown origin, imported with the use of false certificates of foreign veterinary services for alleged transits of the goods via the territories of Belarus and Kazakhstan, with their factual realization in Russia. In addition to the fact that these goods are imported circumventing the restrictions, imposed by the government’s decree on economic retaliatory measures, it poses a serious threat to a customer, as long as these are products of unknown origin, which are not checked or certified for their security in a due way under the international law, laws of Russia and the Customs Union,” they noted.

Considering the gravity of this problem, , Rosselkhoznadzor addressed the Department of veterinary and food control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, in connection with discovering blatant violations during the transit of goods which fall within the scope of the Belarusian veterinary service, with a request to stop legalization of batch of these goods, transported to Kazakhstan and other countries, until the question of control by appropriate authorities of Belarus is solved. Besides, , Rosselkhoznadzor addressed the Belarusian side with the request to annul all permissions for foods transit via Belarus, which route goes through the territory of Russia, and stop their documentation and issuing, including the permissions for transit to Kazakhstan and other countries.

Since November 30 transit on the territory controlled by the veterinary service of goods via the territory of Russia to Kazakhstan and third countries is allowed only through the checkpoints on the Russian part of the border of the Customs Union.
