Ewa Kopacz: We should prove that Poland is a country with rule of law

Before the second round of local voting in Poland the Prime Minister called for taking active part in the voting.

Ewa Kopacz commented on the first round voting and vote count scandal. She emphasized that the members of the Central Election Commission resigned bodily and suffered the consequences of their incompetence. The Prime Minister called for people to take part in the second round of voting and to show that Polish democracy is stronger than disputes within the country, writes Gazeta Wyborcza (translated by charter97.org).

- The Central Election Commission’s objective was to present the first round polls correctly. It is beyond the question that the mission failed, stated Ewa Kopacz. The Prime Minister added that nevertheless it did not prove the fact that the democracy was not operating in Poland.

- Polish democracy is strong, stable and nothing may create a menace for it. The members of the Central Election Commission suffered the consequences of their incompetence and the Supreme Audit Office of the Republic of Poland will scrutinize the ways of implementation of a new informational system, she said.

Ewa Kopacz called the Polish for taking part in the second round of local voting.

-This Sunday we will be able to prove that Polish democracy is stronger than political struggles and disputes, she emphasized. You are the only one who may prove the fact that Poland stays close to West not to Belarus. Let’s prove that Poland is a country with rule of law.
