Aleh Korban is subject to 10-day arrest for the poster "Belarus in not Russia!"

Aleh Korban is subject to 10-day arrest for the poster "Belarus in not Russia!"

Aleh Korban, the leader of the public association "Alternative" (Latvia), has been sent to serve his 10-day arrest in Akhrestsina jail.

Volha Brunevich, the activist of "Alternative", informed BelaPAN.

According to her, on December 11 Korban had a call from the police office in Partyzanski District, Minsk, and was invited to "sign in something".

"Aleh went there and then said he was leaving for 10 days, Brunevich said. In August he was sentenced to 1 day arrest but was released. Now, he's been told to serve this day.

It should be reminded that on August 12 Aleh Korban was detained next to "Kamennaia Horka" metro station while going to meet his "Alternative" activist Illia Dabratvor, having released from Delinquent Isolation Center after his 14-day arrest. Frunze Minsk District Court sentenced Korban to 10 days of administrative arrest under Art. 17.1 of Administrative Code (disorderly conduct), but the opposition activist remained walking free.

The leader of "Alternative" has connected his pursuit with the action on July 26 in Dziarzhynsk, where at the City Executive Committee a white-red-white flag was hung out and posters "For Independent Belarus!" and "Belarus is not Russia!" were pasted up across the city.
