Director General of "Borisovdrev" sentenced to three years in prison

Minsk Regional Court passed the sentence on high-profile case on Saturday.

Uladzimir Maltsay, the Director General of "Borisovdrev", sentenced to three years in the colony with a reinforced regime.

He was found guilty under Art. 424 para 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus "Official misconduct and abuse of power" and sentenced to three years in the colony with a reinforced regime, "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus" reports.

It should be reminded that the criminal case had been tried since September. Maltsau was accused of lobbying the interests of the Turkish company Bersey, which supplied the equipment. The director assured that the Turks legally won the contract. The tender results were checked and no violations were detectedю At first, the prosecutor accused 42-years-old Maltsau of "selfish parasitism of official misconduct" and in December he filed a new charge and he stated that "He was trying to color the truth, guided by careerism and the desire to prove himself a competent and successful leader".

Maltsau did not admit guilt; he repeatedly drew the attention to the fact that all his actions were consistent with high officials, and the plant modernization began long before his assignment to the position.
