Behind bars Uladzimir Jaromienak reads Pushkin in Belarusian

The political prisoner is supposed to be released on 11 March.

The information came from Uladzimir Jaromienak’s spouse, who had received a letter from the political prisoner.

“He wrote that they found book in the Belarusian language for him in the prison’s library, so now he reads them. Among others he reads Pushkin in Belarusian. He also reads the Bible a lot. There are four of them in the sell”, - the political prisoner’s wife Valancina Jaromienak told.

Jaromienak also send a Valentine’s Day card to his wife, having congratulated on the holiday, Radio Svaboda reports.

The political prisoner is supposed to walk free on 11 March.

We would remind that in August court ruled to punish youth activist Uladzimir Jaromienak with three months of arrest on charges with violating preventive supervision regime.

He was convicted on the case of mass disturbances in Minsk on 19 December 2010. He was sentenced to three years in high security penal colony, but released in August 2011 by president’s pardon decree. Preventive surveillance has been established after him, after which he ended up in court twice. On 27 April 2012 he was sentenced to 7 days in prison for disorderly conduct, and on 24 January 2013 – to 12 days for violating the rules of preventive supervision.
