Faculty member at Brest university given 3-year jail term for bribery

A faculty member of a university in Brest has been jailed for accepting a bribe from students.

The information is spread by the Brest department of the Investigation Committee, BelTA news agency reports.

The academic staff member, who taught and examined students, accepted money and material values from May 2010 to January 2013 from students and persons representing their interests for giving them access to exams in different subjects.

More than 60 people were questioned during the investigation; 16 counts were proven.

The case was investigated by the Brest regional department of the Investigation Committee. Brest's Maskouski district court sentenced the man to three years in prison for violating part 2 of article 430 of the Criminal Code ( repeated bribe-taking). The court decision took legal force.
