Head of Bellegprom Group charged

Investigators presented charges to the chairman of the light industry group Bellegprom. He was taken into custody.

“The chairman of Bellegprom Group has been charged with violating part 3 of article 430 (taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The director of the Slonim Worsted and Spinning Factory remains suspect,” Interfax-West has learnt on Tuesday from the information and public relations department of the Investigation Committee.

“Both officials have been taken into custody,” the Investigation Committee informs.

“The Investigation Committee of Belarus continues investigating the criminal case over taking bribes by officials of Bellegprom Group,” the IC says.

“The criminal case was opened on the ground of materials obtained from the Interior Ministry of Belarus. A probe was carried out by the economic crime department of Minsk's main police department.

“It was revealed that the chairman of Bellegprom Group and the director of the Slonim Worsted and Spinning Factory systematically received monetary rewards from representatives of a number of business entities for solving issues on equipment supplies in the framework of modernisation of enterprises of Bellegprom Group,” the Investigation Committee says.
