Lukashenka: Everything is ready for denomination in Belarus

Everything is ready for denomination in Belarus, including new monetary notes.

The country just needs proper time for it, Lukashenka said as he visited OAO 558 Aircraft Repair Plant in Baranovichi on 2 April.

“We will do it when the proper time comes. I have already told you that this currency (new monetary notes) was printed long time ago,” he said.

“We need a proper moment for it (denomination), proper time for the economy to start working and when there is certain stability in the country,” he said.

Lukashenka stressed that the denomination process is a pure technicality. He called for the Belarusian people to refrain from frequent visits to currency exchangers and spend the national currency on necessary purchases in stores.
