Krynitsa general director dismissed?

Ryhor Piatkevich, the general director of Belarus's largest brewery Krynitsa, has been removed from office.

A delegation of officials visited the brewery on April 17, examined the current situation and hinted that a new director of the state-owned company would soon appear, Regnum information agency writes.

Workers of Krynitsa think the replacement of the general director looked highly probable after Lukashenka had held a special meeting to discuss the current state and prospects for the brewing industry in Belarus on April 10. Experts suppose the severe criticism of the current state of the brewing industry can lead to personnel changes.

Among possible candidates to replace Krynitsa's general director was official from the Ministry of Trade, as the head of state praised the quality of Belarusian beer (though he said at the meeting he doesn't drink beer), but said the sales process was ineffective. A new Krynitsa's head is supposed to solve this problem. Officials from state-owned Belgospishcheprom group of companies and its subsidiaries were among the candidates. Experts think the post of the general director of the Minsk-based brewery will be given to a senior official from a provincial company proposed by Belgospishcheprom. Belgospishcheprom refuses to speak about a new head of Krynitsa brewery.
