MTS blocks charter97.org

A popular mobile operator again blocked access to our website.

Charter97.org has learnt it from a reader.

“MTS has blocked your website. It has worked until today. I see the message 'in accordance with the law' [when trying to open the site],” he writes.

Yury Mironau, the chief public relations officer at MTS, told charter97.org correspondent: “Nothing has changed. The company provides services only in accordance with the legislation.”

“MTS provides services in strict compliance with the current legislation. The mobile operator does not restrict access to any websites for individuals – MTS clients. An exception is the cases when a client asks MTS in a written form to restrict him or her access to one or more websites.”

It's worth noting that it is not the first case when our readers have reported about blocked access. Our website was put on the blacklist of BelGIE, the state department for telecommunication control, in spring 2011 for far-fetched reasons. Access to the website is blocked for state-owned companies, universities, schools and cultural establishments. However, blocking access to charter97.org for individuals violates even Lukashenka's decrees.
