Putin to come to Minsk for Great Patriotic War museum’s opening

Lukashenka and Putin are to take part in the ceremony of opening of the new building of the Great Patriotic War History museum in Minsk on July 2.

It has been stated by the deputy Minister of Culture of Belarus Vasily Chernik at a press-conference on June 24, BelaPAN informs.

The ceremony is timed to the 70th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from German invaders.

The official reminded that the task to build the new building of the museum was set four years ago. Initially it was planned that the museum, situated in Victors Avenue near “Minsk – Hero City” stela, was to have the floor space of 15,000 square metres, with 140,000 exhibits. However finally the number of exhibits grew by 47%, and the floor space by 20%, up to 27,000 square metres. 10 exposition halls are to be organized in the museum.
