Kalyakin defends Simonenko

The leader of the leftist party “Just World” condemns the decision to disband the Communist faction in the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament) of Ukraine.

In an interview to Radio Svaboda Syarhei Kalyakin said:

“First of all, I think it is a completely nonlegal decision. Secondly, it is done by forces and persons who are aspiring to join the European Union. It is known that according to the standards of the European Union, the necessary condition is freedom of speech and an opportunity to use the symbols you want.

By the way, there are several rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, when Communists won a judicial dispute on use the symbols used by the Communist Party of Ukraine. That is why this decision is a political settling of scores, and an attempt to prepare liquidation of the Communist Party of Ukraine, and with the help of such actions to “put out of the way” their political rival. That is why it is completely clear that the economic situation is not improving, and it would be very difficult for those who are in power to win the next parliamentary election. So our attitude to that is extremely negative.”

We remind that today the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov announced that the Communist Party faction of Ukraine at the parliament is disbanded.
