Aliaksandr Makaeu sentenced to 15 days for prayer

The activist received a term in custody for a white-red-white flag.

Charter97.org has learnt it from activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Yulia Stsiapanava.

“The trial was held in Minsk's Maskouski district court. It began during the lunch time, so nobody was allowed to enter the courtroom. He was charged with failure to obey a legal order of an official and disorderly conduct (articles 23.4 and 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences).

Aliaksandr Makaeu, one of the leaders of the movement of sole traders, was detained yesterday near the Red Church in Minsk after a prayer for political prisoners. He brought a Belarusian national white-red-white flag on the occasion of the independence day of Belarus. The police detained him as he was returning to his car.
