Putin's sanctions hit Belarusian trucking companies

Restrictions on the import of goods to the Russian Federation affected the work of Belarusian trucking companies.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus says the restrictive measures hit Belarusian companies that transport goods in refrigerated trailers. They do not have transport contracts any more, BelaPAN news agency writes.

“At the same time, the arrangements between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on additional supplies of Belarusian products to Russia will raise the volume of cargo and give an opportunity to use the refrigerated trailers that don't currently work,” the ministry says.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications applied to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Trade, Belgospishcheprom concern, Belkoopsoyuz and regional executive committee asking to use as many Belarusian trucking companies as possible when signing contracts with Russian companies to supply domestic goods to Russia.

The ministry holds negotiations with the Ministry of Transport of Russia on using Belarusian trucking companies alongside with Russian ones in the possible diversification of supplies of meat, fish, dairy products, fruit and vegetables from the countries that still can export their products to Russia.
