Bill on ratification of Ukraine-EU association deal introduced to Rada

The President of Ukraine has introduced the bill on the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU to the parliament.

Bill No.0098 was registered today in the country's parliament, RBC reports.

As of 11:15, the text of the bill was not published on the parliament's website.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the association agreement in Brussels on June 27, 2014.

The Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament are expected to ratify the agreement on September 16 during a video conference.

According to Poroshenko, the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU will come into force on November 1, 2014.

It was agreed at the trilateral ministerial meeting between Ukraine, the EU and Russia that EU would prolong trade preferences for Ukrainian exporters until the end of 2015.

Poroshenko rules out the possibility of changing the text of the association deal. “There will be no exceptions or amendments to the text of the Association Agreement I signed in Brussels on June 27,” he said.

The first meeting of the Association Council after the ratification of the agreement will be held on November 17, 2014, according to the Ukrainian president.
