European Belarus coordinator Maksim Viniarski disappeared

Maksim Viniarski was taken out of the jail in Akrestsin Street some minutes before the release.

Charter97.org learnt it from activist of the European Belarus campaign Yulia Stsiapanava.

Maksim Viniarski was taken out of the jail in Akrestsin Street in a car to the Savetski district police department. Friends followed the car. We don't have other information so far,” she said at 16:40. It was later confirmed by the people who were waiting for the activist near the jail gates – he managed to wave his hand to them from the car .

No news appeared about the whereabouts of Maksim Viniarski at 21:00. The staff of the Savetski district police department refused to give any information about him. His relatives told European Belarus activists that Maksim didn't come home. His mobile phone is switched off. The police offered his relatives to report him missing.

Maksim Viniarski was detained on August 29 in Bahdanovich Street on his way to Kurapaty memorial area for monthly volunteer cleaning works. He was taken to the Savetski district police department and charged with violating article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences. The activist was sentenced to 15 days in custody.

It became known the next day after the arrest that Maksim Viniatski received threats of bodily harm.
